There are many challenges in developing social and economic values in the society. As a global citizen, I recognized global issues and respecting the principles and practices of building relationships and cultural diversity. This helps in creating network and understanding cultural diversity for providing solutions for problems that many individuals are facing today. I try to connect many people across the world in order to make decision about the accomplishment of task for the benefit of an individual. This will help me to become an effective business leader. As we enter in the profession of business, several responsibilities are there which needs to be fulfilled by the global citizen. The fulfillment of these responsibilities will develop the community as a whole (teachunicef, 2016). Business leadership influences other people in achieving a common goal and establishes a clear strategy so as to add value to the country. My approach towards leaders in business is to understand individual values and provides them with the opportunity to perform ethically (Espoo, 2011). I internally believe that business leadership is the leader who is likely to seek a potential actions and motions towards attaining the vision for the company. I have been fortunate to lead many people while accomplishing different tasks in the area of working. This gives a great opportunity to develop my skills as a leader and thereby helps me become a global citizen. I have designed a sustainable practice which reflects the role and responsibilities to become a future business leader. As a global citizen, it is essential for me to promote and enhance the cultural values and ethics to build a business foundation as it raises the quality of my leadership (citizensclimateeducation, 2016). My business leadership standard is the result of much experience that I have serve in the industry over past years. The values driven leadership is increasingly emphasizes on the values and principles of ethics and successful leadership (educationscotland, 2011). While making decision I need to consider several aspects with regards to the Global Citizenship. The emerging global business environment is becoming complex and diverse in its performance. I need to ensure about the legal framework that helps to minimize the risk and thus expands the role of business leader around the leader so as to achieve the striving goals for the development of the community and country as well (TOBAK, 2016). I have to take such decisions which reduce risks in the business environment and lead to contribute towards organization's profit. I need to develop a plan according to the situation which builds a gap between the customers' needs and business goals (Schwab, 2003). A rational decision should be made which drives cultural values and ethics in the community. I have to collect relevant and accurate data which enables to enhance my credibility and integrity of the business. I also need to consider the methods and opportunities available and thereby is likely t o access the possible rewards. Biasness should also be avoided while making decision for business operations. I also need to make an alternative solution for the decision, in case the earlier strategy fails to contribute personal ethics. With the raise in my awareness I will be able to make effective decision as a Global citizenship (Honeysett, 2016). I have to consider the global issues and challenges before making a decision. I feel that a common sense of belonging with respect to cultural values and responsibilities towards the diversity must be taken into consideration as it advances the structure of global governance and connection among the national system. The recognition of these approaches is required to fulfill future role as a leader in the business (Myatt, 2012). I also have to critically evaluate the other aspects of the decision making process in order to enhance the success and completion of the business process and therefore, decision taken by me must also contribute s to community's value (grli, 2001). This process of decision making helps me to contribute as a Global Citizen and thus I can ensure my personal ethics (multimedia, 2006). I have analyzed different culture around the world that has diverse integrated pattern and beliefs. As a Global Citizenship, I have experienced several cultural identities in various parts across the international business. There are so many people living in different countries with different backgrounds. I observed that most of the people want to contribute to the community's value. I have learnt many languages and pattern of performing a task in different ways. However, this leads to an improvement in my skills and knowledge. In high school I was in America, and there were many students from different religion and style. My friend, Maxwell who belongs to America has started a community which was in charge of youth conference. This makes me to learn about the leadership quality among people. However, earlier a concept of business leader was ever changing for me. The people around me were known about leaders and therefore it influences me to generate my knowledge in this field. I hav e learnt about the different culture associated with America. I have learnt about the art styles that vary by social status, climate and occupation. I have seen that people of America are very energetic and focused towards their goals and objectives (Zimmermann, 2015). This sense of belongingness helped me to establish myself as a future leader in business. I have also learned that the government rules and regulations of a country have a great impact on other country's performance as I have realized that the importance of government policies in my school days. The success of corporate business requires implementation of cultural diversity and ethical values. Therefore, through the past cultural experience, I have learnt many things which contribute to the leader in the business and thus enable me to understand various cultural aspects as a Global citizen. If I lived in another country, and have to make decision I have to consider some major aspects which in turn accomplishes the desired objective. The initial step would be to analyze the situation and problem for the concerned issue. Then I need to understand the language for collecting information and data to make decision. With the understanding and critical evaluation of the situation I will be able to make possible alternative strategy for the decision making process. I will also concern with other people about the related issue and try to know about their opinion. I also need to consider whether the decision made by me will be effective in the future or not. However, the ethical and cultural values differ around the world which requires adopting of several tools and techniques. I will use advance technology as a tool in order to generate information for the related fact and figures. Based on the collected information and determining the effectiveness of the decision in all aspect s I will make the decision. Before making any decision I will explore to the alternative options and specify the pros and corns of the decision. I will also consult other people living in similar country so as to get source of data and nature of the reaction I will get out of that decision. Generally, people belonging to the similar area are likely to have same needs and wants based on the culture of the country. Through the understanding of these culture and values of the country I will make the decision about something. My personal ethics lens is cultural values and effective decision making, therefore if I would have been made the decision it must be related to these approaches. I would have decided to develop and apply the values of global governance and fairness in the business operations. I would have taken this decision in order to promote integrity in the environment with the development of social responsibility and personnel beliefs. This will enhance my position as a business leader in the global market. It will establish the global contemporary issue both at the national and international levels. The decision taken by me would have been different to the decision, if I had made this decision in Australia because the culture, personnel needs, government rules and procedure differs from country to country. The participation and contribution depends on the personnel behavior and this examines the social values and ethical behavior towards the country. Basically, the decision is based on the sit uation surrounded with the concerned problems and issues (Sterri, 2014). However, while making a decision I would have not analyzed the situation effectively because I was not physically presented at the place. Analysis of the data used to make a decision is very important because it critically evaluates and determines the concerned problem. The accuracy of the decision might have decreased with the change in the place of making a decision. If I were in Australia, I would have better understand the core values and intercultural issues while judging the different aspects of the data. The greater understanding of the world issues helps to take better decision and thereby I can perform as a Global Citizenship (Vroom Jago, 2016). Discovering a cause of the problem differs with the change in the place and this creates issues while making decision. The existence of human nature also affects the decision making process. I have to underline the global situation while making decision and th is might differs in the perspective of the country's situation. The decision can be differed in several aspects based on the country's economic situation as the financial position of Australia and other country differs. The education and level of literacy in the country are also involved while making decision therefore, decision made by me in Australia would be comparatively distinguished from the decision I have taken in other country (Israel, 2012). All these aspects and approaches of decision making process significantly affect my decision and thereby this leads to a significant impact on the operation and business development. Hence, decision about the global governance and fairness in the business operations may differs from country wise process of making decision. Through, the current approaches of my personal ethics lens including decision making and cultural values helps me to contribute in the success of the country as a Global Citizenship. A Global Citizenship helps in creating awareness of several perspectives and thereby entails a cultural elements in the decision making process. A famous late 20th century American short story writer and poet, Raymond Carver, has often been described by critics as a minimalist. According to an Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary a minimalist Is a person who uses very simple Ideas In their work (Minimalist, 881 Raymond Carver wrote a lot of great short stories and poems. Most of his poems very edited by his Gordon List, and the originals where never published. Comparing Raymond Carvers original stories and stories that were edited by Gordon List, his first editor, we can notice an enormous difference in style. Carver uses a lot of details that keep reader interested when List takes out all those details and leaves us with less then a half of what was originally written. Gordon List is a minimalist; he influenced his style on Carver. When Carver became confident enough about his work, he stopped taking advice from him, and Raymond Carvers work became even more enjoyable. Despite the critics, who consider Carver a minimalist, after reading his original and edited Tories and doing some extra research, I would argue that List was a minimalist, not Carver. Lash edited out a large portion of Carvers work which made him appear Like a minimalist. By reading Carvers original stories, you will see a more developed and complex style that you will not find in the edited versions. We can clearly see how much information List has cut out from the original version; he roused out a lot of important details in the story and took out that unique persona of each character that Carver has created for a reason, to foreshadow the upcoming events. List made the story incredibly different; he even changed the title and names of the characters. The original story and the edited story have only about thirty percent In common. The original version was much longer and yet fascinating; It had interesting details that were In harmony with the text. Details, that Carver never liked, were very Important, and It didnt seem too heavy In the context. When Gordon List name onto the scene, he cut out nearly seventy percent of the text and left us with bare minimum. By editing out so much, he changed the plot of the story, as well as changing the title and character names. List also seems to use a lot of paragraph breaks that once again only simplify the story. When reading Carvers stories, we can differentiate the ones that were edited by List and those that werent. If we take Errand and Where I am calling from we can clearly see a lot of details that help us to create a character image in our heads. Therefore, we know that those two stories werent edited by List. Errand and Where I am calling from have strong details, such us the use of dialogue which foreshadows what Is going to happen late on. However, It doesnt make It uninteresting, Instead It makes a reader continue reading further. In letters from Carver to Gordon Lash, from 1969 to 1 983, we see the tremendous change In their relationship. At the beginning, Carver writes to Lash with much respect and love, You know, I feel closer to you than I do to my own brother. Youre my Malaysian. Man, I love you (Carver, Letters to an Editor). Carver tells Alls how much he loves him and he doesnt want to lose him in his first letters. Later on, when Carver gets the edited version of the Beginners, he writes a long letter to List telling him how he feels about his editing. Gordon, the changes are brilliant and for the better in most cases I look at What We Talk About When We Walk About Love(Beginners) and I see what it is that youve done, what youve pulled out of it, and Im awed and astonished, startled even, with your insights. Carver is complementing List on the editing, he like what he did, and he wants him to continue working on his stories. After sending List a few more stories and getting the result back, Carver tar ts realizing that he doesnt want his stories to be so minimal, he wants them to have the original beauty. Therefore, he writes List another letter, telling him that he doesnt like his editing style l want that sense of beauty and mystery they have now, but I dont want to lose track, lose touch with the little human connections I saw in the first version you sent me. It is obvious here that Carver wants to have connection with a reader; he wants to have readers interest through out the entire story. In his last letter to List, Carver still asks him to edit his stories, but leave them indicated, may e Just a little bit trimmed if needed. Carver allowed him to change the titles if List felt the need to. After those requests, List started working on Carvers 3rd collection and following his requests with minimal editing. However, after that, List never wrote back to Carver. Carver addressed him last letter asking List if he forgot about him and then telling him that he is going back to the [Paris Review] interview and take out all the good things he said about List. This was the end of their relationship as friends or List being Carvers editor. I assume that List did not like how Carver was irritating his editing and he decided to disappear. Adam Meyer wrote five books of criticism published on Carver. Meyer discusses more than 45 stories and provides their full analysis. Meyer argues with other critics over that Carver was a minimalist, saying: to remind the reader that What We Talk About When We Walk About Love, Carver at his barest, is also Carver at his least representative. (Overview, Arthur F. Bethel). Adam Meyer implies that List is the one who is representing the story, and that Carver almost has nothing to do with it. He seems to devalue minimalist stories because they are less intelligible than fuller Tories. Meyer does not value stories that are written in the minimalist style. Meyer believes in that Carvers original work is more intelligible then the edited copies by Gordon List. Raymond Carver started rejecting Lashs advices after becoming more confident about his work. In New Yorker, Rough Crossings we notice a sudden change from letters to an editor. In Rough Crossings, Carver becomes harsher on List. Severe editorial cuts two stories had been slashed by nearly seventy percent, , many descriptions and digressions were gone; endings had been truncated or rewritten. All this means a minimalist style of writing which Carver is not a big supporter of. In a review of his last book, a Journalist called him a minimalist, meaning it as a compliment, which didnt make Carver too happy. In 1986, an interview was taking with Carver. He was asked a question What makes your writing uniquely your own? (The Pillsbury Review). Carver answered: Well, certainly, the tone in the work, I suppose. In between Harvard and Northwestern, Stevenson worked as a reporter and editor at the family newspaper, The Pentagraph, in Bloomington. Stevenson went to work practicing law but would eventually ignore the advice of his father- Never go into politics, Lewis Stevenson told his son- and ran for governor of the state. Political Career Stevenson served as governor of Illinois from 1948 to 1952. However, the roots of his political career can be traced to more than a decade earlier, when he worked with President Franklin D. Roosevelt on the details of the New Deal. Eventually, he was recruited to take on the corrupt administration of Republican Illinois Gov. Dwight H. Green, which was known as the Green Machine. Stevensons resounding victory on a campaign platform of good government propelled him into the national spotlight and eventually paved the way for his nomination at the 1952 Democratic National Convention. The 1952 presidential campaign was largely about the threat of communism and government waste in the U.S. It placed Stevenson against a popular Republican, General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Eisenhower won handily, taking nearly 34 million popular votes to Stevensons 27 million. The Electoral College results were crushing; Eisenhower won 442 to Stevensons 89. The result four years later was the same, even though the incumbent Eisenhower had just survived a heart attack. Stevenson Turns Down Russian Help in 1960 Election In early 1960, Stevenson stated that while he would run if drafted, he would not seek a third Democratic presidential nomination. However, then-Senator John F. Kennedy was very actively seeking the nomination. While Stevenson’s 1956 campaign promise to oppose U.S. nuclear weapons development and military growth had not resonated with American voters, it did convince the Soviet government that he was â€Å"someone they could work with.† According to Stevenson’s personal biographer and historian John Bartlow Martin, Soviet ambassador to the U.S. Mikhail A. Menshikov met with Stevenson at the Russian embassy on January 16, 1960 on the premise of thanking him for helping arrange Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev’s visit to the U.S. But at some point during caviar and vodka, Menshikov read Stevenson a note from Khrushchev himself encouraging him to oppose Kennedy and make another presidential run. â€Å"We are concerned with the future, and that America has the right President,† Khrushchev’s note read, in part: â€Å"All countries are concerned with the American election. It is impossible for us not to be concerned about our future and the American Presidency which is so important to everybody everywhere.† In the note, Khrushchev went on to ask Stevenson for suggestions on how the Soviet press could â€Å"assist Mr. Stevenson’s personal success.† Specifically, Khrushchev suggested that the Soviet press might help endear American voters to Stevenson by criticizing his â€Å"many harsh and critical† statements about the Soviet Union and Communism. â€Å"Mr. Stevenson will know best what would help him,† Khrushchev’s note concluded. In later recounting the meeting for his biography, Stevenson told author John Bartlow Martin, that after thanking the Soviet ambassador for delivering the offer and Premier Khrushchev for his â€Å"expression of confidence,† Stevenson then told Menshikov of his â€Å"grave misgivings about the propriety or wisdom of any interference, direct or indirect, in the American election, and I mentioned to him the precedent of the British Ambassador and Grover Cleveland.† Which caused Menshikov to accuse President Eisenhower of interfering in recent British and German elections. Always the diplomat, Stevenson politely declined the Soviet leader’s offer of assistance and repeated his refusal to seek the nomination. Kennedy would go on the win both the Democratic nomination and the 1960 presidential election over Republican Richard Nixon. Ambassador to the United Nations President John F. Kennedy appointed Stevenson, who had a deep knowledge of foreign affairs and popularity among Democrats, as the ambassador to the United Nations in 1961. President Lyndon B. Johnson reconfirmed him for the position later. Stevenson served as ambassador to the U.N. during a tumultuous time, through debates over the Bay of Pigs and Cuban missile crises and the Vietnam War. It was a role for which Stevenson ultimately became famous, known for his moderation, compassion, civility, and grace. He served in the post until his death four and a half years later. Marriage and Personal Life Stevenson married Ellen Borden in 1928. The couple had three sons: Adlai Ewing III, Borden, and John Fell. They divorced in 1949 because, among other reasons, Stevensons wife was said to have loathed politics. Death and Legacy Just five days after making that speech in Geneva, on July 14, 1965, Stevenson died of a heart attack while visiting London, England. The New York Times announced his death this way: To the public dialogue of his time he brought intelligence, civility and grace. We who have been his contemporaries have been companions of greatness. Stevenson is, of course, frequently remembered for his two failed bids for president. But he also left a legacy as an effective and polished statesman who won respect from his international peers and made a point of meeting personally with representatives of each of the 116 governors in the organization. The Coalition Application is a centralized college application, first pioneered in 2016 by the Coalition for College Access, Affordability, and Success (often just referred to as the Coalition for College Access). For colleges to use the Coalition Application, they must meet the following criteria: Be open to students of different cultural, socio-economic, and geographic backgrounds Have low or no-debt financial aid, meet full demonstrated need, or offer in-state tuition Have high graduation rates (for low-income and under-represented students as well as overall) Almost all schools that are Coalition for College Access members allow students to use the Coalition Application to apply for admission. (The exception are schools like Illinois State University, which is still in the process of transferring over its application system as of October 2018.) What this means for you as an applicant is that instead of having to fill out separate applications for each school, you can instead fill out one central application (the Coalition Application) and submit it to whatever Coalition schools you want to apply to. In addition, because of the eligibility criteria schools have to meet to use the Coalition App, you can be at least somewhat assured that you're likely to graduate and that when you do, you won't be carting along a boatload full of student loan debt. However, just because schools accept the Coalition Application doesn't mean that you can apply to dozens of schools with just one click. Many of the Coalition schools have application supplements you have to submit, which can be anything from a couple of informational questions answered with a drop-down menu to multiple additional essays.Plus, each school has its own application fee (although the Coalition Application does allow eligible low-income students and U.S. armed forces vets or active members to waive this fee). When you stare into the eyes of the piggy bank, the piggy bank stares back also. Luckily, the Coalition app makes it easy to waive fees if you're eligible- no need to trouble Mr. Waddles. Who Uses the Coalition Application? More than 140 schools use the Coalition Application, including colleges in 35 states and Washington, DC. Because of the Coalition for College Access's commitment to affordability, there is a mix of both public and private schools who use the Coalition Application, including schools in the University of Washington (WA), Rutgers (NJ), and SUNY (NY) systems. Public schools on the list tend to offer free or low-cost in-state tuition, while private schools offer loan-free (or no-loan) financial aid or aid that fully meets demonstrated need. The requirement that students at Coalition colleges have high graduation rates (for low income and under-represented students in particular) means that schools that accept the Coalition Application tend both to be strong academically and offer a good support system for their students. A medical professional must put aside rhetoric and stick to the facts. The â€Å"if-then† scenarios put forth by the religious right are especially rhetorical. If they argue, we determine that a blastocyst or embryo isn’t viable because it can’t survive on its own (separate from major medical intervention or a mother’s womb), then we are only one small step away from using comatose patients in medical experiments (Sullivan 59). Again, the argument is not a scientific one; it is simply a drawing room discussion with no boundaries. Leftover embryos from IVF patients are no longer useful to those who would donate them, and their potentiality is limited.

Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next. These stirring words by General Maximus epitomizes the vengeful nature of Ridley Scotts Gladiator. A true revenge movie for the ages, it uses todays computer-generated imagery influenced with Hollywood yesteryears sword-and-sandal epics to produce a stunning and spectacular saga. Russell Crowe plays Maximus, a faithful and successful Roman General in the service of Marcus Aurelius (aptly played by the late Richard Harris). His loyal and selfless servitude is rewarded by the Emperor with a pledge of being leader in his place when he dies, until Rome again becomes a republic. This pledge is betrayed by the Emperors son, Commodus (played by Joaquin Phoenix), who murders his own father and usurps the throne. Aware of the promise made to Maximus, Commodus orders Maximus execution and has his lands taken, his title stripped, and his family murdered. Maximus narrowly escapes his pursuers, is left for dead and sold to slavery. In North Africa, Proximo (Oliver Reed’s last, though excellent, on-screen performance) purchases the fazed former general and enlists him as a gladiator. With nothing left to live except a quest for vengeance, Maximus ferociously fights in arenas, winning all his battles and eventually working his way to the Coliseum in Rome, where he plots to have his revenge. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Its epic scope (set in 150 A. D. ), savage battle scenes, rousing soundtrack and superb performances by the cast were well-received in the global box-office, raking in almost half a billion U. S. Dollars. Its influence is felt with the revival of the historical epic in Hollywood, with subsequent releases of Troy, Alexander, 300 and Ridley Scott’s own Kingdom of Heaven. Given the superlative success that the film had, it is quite surprising to discover that the film encountered numerous hiccups during production. For instance, the script had to be rewritten numerous times and the plotline needed several revisions. There was even talk of Russell Crowe, the actor playing the star role, walking out of the set when not getting what he wanted. There is also the tragic death of Oliver Reed during filming which editors had to fix in post-production using clever computer superimposing and body-doubles. Nevertheless, the film delivers a heroic display worthy of past Hollywood greats such as Spartacus and The 300 Spartans. Critics complain of the lack of depth in the characters as the main protagonists often deliver scenes of depression and moroseness. Others counter that a hero is supposed to undergo such catharses in order to contrast it with developments later on in the movie, of which this writer agrees. The set, albeit designed and executed using sophisticated computer imagery, was not in any way intrusive to the story being told. In fact, the background was more than sufficient in suspending disbelief and even adds to the fervor with its monstrous crowds and impressive panorama. There were those who questioned the brutal blood and gore displayed in the battle scenes and the arenas as being over-the-top and bordering on gratuity. They however fail to mention that, unlike the famous Hollywood yarns of the past, today’s sagas are more compelling due to the realism employed. It is impossible for you to realize the barbarity and desperation of gladiatorial combat if the setting omits the consequences of blood and gore that face those in defeat. All in all, Gladiator attains the rank of immortality to the movie-going public due to its enlivening account of the vindication of a judicious and honorable man wronged by the greedy ambitions of a damnable nemesis. Its distinctive gift to its watchers of being able to â€Å"reach back to hallowed antiquity† and see the triumph and spectacle of a worthy warrior win his quest is deserving of all the accolades given to it. For, if such a spectacular and gripping show as Gladiator is, if it still fails to grip the viewer into vicarious entertainment, there may be a need to ask â€Å"Are you not entertained?
